Charged Up, Future On

Fyt Media marks seven years in 2025, and we’re celebrating with a spark of courage, a dash of innovation, and a whole lot of hope.

What began in 2018 as a passion project by a dynamic group of Gen X and millennial journalists has grown into a bold, independent media force. We are committed to independent transforming how stories are told, and who gets to tell them.

Launched as a flagship program under Lyf Solutions, a start-up founded by Atom Araullo, Voltaire Tupaz, Rupert Ambil, and Zak Yuson, Fyt was born out of the fight for truth, for stories that matter, and for voices too often left unheard.

Fyt has since become a community -oriented media organization on a mission to empower the next generation of storytellers, amplify local voices, and rebuild public trust in media from the ground up.

In 2024, Fyt took a bold leap and became a non-profit media organization led by Tupaz, Araullo, and a new wave of visionary leaders.

Today, we stand tall on four pillars: Stories, Technology, Capacity-Building, and Community, all working in sync to turn stories into solutions, and issues into impact.

We’ve come a long way, from Zoom meetings and immersive explainers to building platforms and nurturing communities of storytellers and changemakers. But our heartbeat remains the same: public interest journalism, fueled by truth, courage, and empathy.

Seven years in, we’re just getting started. The fight – the Fyt - lives on.

Executive Director and Co-founder

Pillar 1: Stories

Fyt Media’s new board embodies our unwavering commitment to community-centered journalism that is responsive to the needs of the time. Each trustee brings a wealth of experience and a shared passion for empowering young voices and inspiring social engagement, combining the best of storytelling with advances in communication tools like social media and AI.

Atom Araullo

Fyt President and Co-founder

Pillar 2: Technology

Jaemark Tordecilla, a media advisor specializing in AI and newsroom innovation, outlines Fyt’s approach to technology and storytelling.
In the current information ecosystem, it's important for media companies to fight for the attention of our citizens. At Fyt, reaching younger audiences is at the core of our mission. We are committed to engaging them where they are — whether on social media, streaming platforms, or immersive digital environments. By leveraging emergent technologies like AI, we enhance storytelling to resonate with the next generation. Beyond capturing attention, our goal is to build meaningful connections with the next generation of citizens.

Pillar 3: Capacity Building

Veteran journalist Ging Reyes reflects on the evolving media landscape as she joined Fyt's board:
The media industry has been going through rapid change and disruption, but there is a silver lining that I see in smaller, independent organizations like Fyt. Fyt’s strength lies in its young, innovative and community-focused team of journalists. Fyt has been building  connections with local communities. It’s engaging youth groups, students, campus journalists, and educators in their coverage and delivery of relevant stories and efforts to promote news literacy and counter disinformation. The challenge is to make these connections stronger and more responsive to the specific needs of its target audience.

Pillar 4: Community

Sociologist and media advocate Nicole Curato, a longtime supporter of Fyt, underscores the power of community-driven journalism:
Community is both the first and last line of defense when our shared values are under attack. Now more than ever, we need independent media to harness the power of everyday people, turning collective voices into action against the ongoing threats to our democracy, environment, and dignity
